Show of the Week: Fresh Beats
Time: Currently Wednesdays 1am-3am; TBA for the Summer 2012 season (check on soundcloud.com/djsbz on the description of the latest show)
Host info: DJ SBZ
What is your show like?
- Wherever and whenever I am around the globe, Fresh Beats will always be broadcasted only at WSUM 91.7 FM Madison! Fresh Beats, all day and all night, every time. From house, UK Garage, NY Garage, Chicago House, Detroit Techno, Baltimore Club, Miami Bass, Drum and Bass, Dubstep, disco, funk, soul, breakbeat, bigbeat, electronica, synthpop, and more just to list a few of them, you will never hear a repeated song on this show, hence the beats will always stay new and fresh! Hence why they call my show “Fresh Beats”!
Why should people listen to your show?
- Because it will move your body and make you dance and shake and jiggle and jump! Simple as that!
How long have you had a show at WSUM?
- Fall 2011. I’ve been on plenty of other radio shows and stations across the globe though, even BBC Radio 1. I think Pete Tong canceled my Essential Mix back in 1993…..
What do you do outside of the station? (Hobbies, job, etc)
- By jolly, there are so many things I love to do besides dj-ing. Whether it’s trolling on Reddit or 4chan, hanging out with some of my friends like Carl Cox, Grant Nelson, David Morales, or even Kevin Saunderson and Frankie Knuckles, cooking foods of all sorts, playing video games, listening to music, enjoying life with my wife, talking walks with my children, swimming in Ibiza, clubbing all over the world, attending music festivals like Winter Music Conference, International Music Summit, or Southport Weekender to name a few I occupy my time in many ways; these are only some of my favorite things! (Check out the John Coltrane remix of that song).

WSUM teamed up with the Majestic Theater to broadcast the Project Lodge Benefit concert live. The show was dedicated to keeping a vital community hub's lights on, so the Project Lodge can remain a home for Madison's artists, musicians, filmmakers, and authors. The show featured Julian Lynch, Icarus Himself, Whitney Mann, Anna Vogelzang, and All Tiny Creatures. Take a look at the awesome time we had!
