The WSUM Sports Team

The WSUM Sports Team provides listeners incredible insight with its lively and engaging sports talk shows including Red Alert, Four Guys and a Mic, The 6th Quarter, The Sports Bar, and The Student Section. The longest-running show on the station, The Student Section has featured a myriad of renowned guests, including ESPN's Scott Van Pelt and Adam Rittenberg. The program has also been named the best student talk show in the state of Wisconsin.

In the fall of 2008, WSUM began broadcasting Badger games live on a dedicated online sports stream. The first broadcast, a football game at Camp Randall Stadium against Ohio State, was tremendously successful. Just a few months later, the WSUM Sports Team garnered its first award from the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association for exceptional live broadcasts. WSUM has since expanded its live play-by-play coverage to include Badger football, mens and womens basketball, and mens and womens hockey. Further, WSUM now provides coverage of select Wisconsin away games, postseason events, and broadcasts live pre and post game shows. Tune in for complete coverage of Badger games by clicking on a streaming option next to "Sports" at the top of this website, or click here for all streaming options and scroll down to "Sports Streams". WSUM is also proud to be the exclusive broadcasting partner of Wisconsin softball and womens hockey on UWBadgers.com Multimedia and BigTenNetwork.com Live Streams.

In the Spring of 2010, WSUM Sports had the opportunity to broadcast wrestling, womens hockey, womens basketball, and softball games for Big Ten Network as a part of the station's Student-U initiative. All of the games were entirely student-run and produced, with assistance from the UW Athletics Audio/Video Department. The games aired live on BigTenNetwork.com and were later shown on the cable network. WSUM Sports is honored to be asked to broadcast more Student-U events next fall.

The WSUM Sports Department also maintains a blog and oversees an award-winning Sports News Team that covers Wisconsin press conferences, practices and games. The News Team records footage for WSUM 6 PM News Updates and sports flashes on WSUM sports talk shows.
